Typing and Revising



 2.1  Typing TextWhen you open Word 2010, you can start typing right away. The insertion point will be at the top of the document. You don’t have to worry about typing perfectly, because it is easy to make corrections and changes at any time.Word automatically wraps text to the next line as you type. If you want to start a new paragraph,
press ENTER on keyboard.




You can click the Show/Hide button on the         Home tab, in the Paragraph group to display or
hide all nonprinting characters such as paragraph marks, spaces, …. These characters are not printed, whether or not they are displayed.


2.2   Inserting and Typing Over Existing Text



?  To insert text anywhere in an existing document:
1.    Position the insertion point where you want to begin typing.
2.    Type the text.



By default, Word moves existing text to the right as you insert new characters. If you prefer to
have new text replace existing text, switch to Overtype mode:
1.    Press Alt+F, then T to open the Word Options dialog box.
2.    Press A to display the Advanced page, and then press TAB.
3.                          Press                             Alt+O to move to the                                                  Use The Insert Key To Control Overtype Mode             check
box.
4.    Press the SPACEBAR to select the check box, and then press ENTER.
5.    To turn Overtype mode on or off, press INSERT on the keyboard.



2.3   Inserting Symbols and Special Characters


You can insert special characters, international characters, and symbols by using the          Symbol
command on the Insert tab.
